Here is a wonderful, sparkling jet black fan dating back to the
Victorian era. It has lovely, fully intact black ebonized tines which
are shaped into gracefully undulating curves. The tines (all intact)
are covered in black lawn which is spangled in an assortment of sequins
creating an artistic floral design, and the upper edge is trimmed by
hand in delicate French Chantilly lace. The fan measures approx. 14
3/4" across when open, by approx. 7 7/8" tall (8 1/2" including the
hanging loop).
There are some sequins missing here and there and a bit of wear to the
edges of the sheer backing layer of lining, commensurate with being an
antique, but overall, this is a gorgeous example of an authentic
Victoriana, ready to be enjoyed for years to come, either through
display or gentle use :)
