The siren has arisen from the waves, and while untangling
her hair,
discovers an aquatic octopode friend has come along for the ride! This
statue is
in the Art Nouveau style and features a sea nymph with an octopus
tangled
throughout her long hair. Like Aphrodite, the mermaid stands upon a
shell (which serves as a great place to put rings or other small
treasures) as a vision of beauty and grace. The statue of molded resin
has been painted
by hand to simulate a verdigris bronze ~ it does have a section at the
top of the hair which has been mended, but this is only seen up close.
She measures approx. 16 3/8" tall including the base which is approx. 8
1/2" in diameter. The base has a signature mark of "Villanis" (based on
an original bronze work by Emanuel Villanis 1858-1914).
